Echoing our great Vice President (for some reason that phrase he used to tell people they need to pay more taxes has stuck in my head), I am *almost* done editing and working on this Armed Service Aptitude Test Study Guide revision that has taken up a ton of my time each night for the past month and a half or so. I finished all the re-writes and creating 2 new tests with 200 questions each this evening, so now it is just a matter of organizing it and getting it printed out and in the FEDEX tomorrow.
I haven’t been able to get much done blog wise, what with the down time we had when the server melted and this book thing and the traveling/work I’ve had this summer. I’m about to have a bunch of my time back, so Just. Stand. By!
Anyhow, this picture turned out pretty good. Buddy of mine on the navy side, Big Al Lyons, retired last weekend and I took the pics. This 3-image stitched together pic didn’t turn out too bad. He had a ton of people there.
Farewell, Big Al!

Anybody remember when it was the AFQT? Oops, I keep giving my age away, don’t I?
Seeing these Retirement Festivities on occasion does bring it home that it has been a long time since I returned to the private sector. Having eight grandkids might factor in, also, maybe?

Looks like the inside of the old Naval Doctrine Command bldg. (now COMCARGRU 4’s home).

Jake,
That’s exactly where it is – Strike Forces Training, Atlantic – Bldg 23, I think is the building number. Across from the practice/soccer/football/PRT/parade/big ol’ field off of Gilbert Street.

I love this “hall” where this ceremony is. Very nice.
