As in being slow at posting. Apologies, all. This new blog format is like a brand new coat – its cool and its neat to have a new coat and all, but it still just doesn’t feel right for some reason and needs a bit of time to get broken in.
In the meantime….contrast the Tophatter logo from the F-14 Tomcat days….
with the current F/A-18E Rhino logo (taken from a zippo lighter they have):
Sorry. *lame*.

I liked the “Fighting Fourteen” part a helluva lot better too. Sounds like something a warrior would think of, instead of that identity challenged “VFA”

It is like the Argonauts. With the VFA, it’s not quite the same. They call themselves Argonauts but those of us who were in the Attack Argonauts tend to call ourselves the Real Argonauts. Does anyone understand what I mean?

FAG (Fighter Attack Guy) Esprit de corps is not what it once was in the Tomcat (F ighter) community. I always said “I would rather have a sister in a “H” house than a brother in a Hornet squadron!” gotta have standards ya know…

I do understand how it goes. I just started Old Retired Petty Officer a couple days ago. A full fledged “nugget” blogger here now!

Right now it is about my recent go around with kidney cancer and the surgery and such. But I did allow myself leeway to do what ever I chose. Old First Class can do that!!!!!!!!!!!

And I would wonder what a Argonaut lighter would look like with the F in between the V and the A.
And they got rid of the legacy hornettes for the rhinos this year!
I was there 85-87 with SLUFs otherwise knownas the A-7E Corsair II
