Something I’ve been meaning to do for a while and the stars finally aligned. Welcome aboard CAPT Jake Spivey, a reserve buddy of mine from way back of impeccable credentials and questionable judgement (if’n he wants to get involved with the Instapinch!)
Jake is a 27 year naval officer and Navy Reservist and has served in a wide variety of operational, staff and command positions. He is presently serving on active duty for the fourth time, epitomizing his alma mater’s concept of the citizen-soldier (VMI, of course!) in support of a critical Navy program.
Concurrently, he is also serving as the commanding officer of a Navy Reserve unit supporting its afloat combat service support forces. Married with two daughters in college, one daughter in high school and a son in grade school he has very little spare time, but when he does “get away” he enjoys, sailing, hunting, fishing and playing in Grand Masters lacrosse tournaments.
We served together at Tactical Training Group Atlantic at Dam Neck, Va a number of years ago, refreshing the tactical knowledge and skills needed for active duty and reserve officers and enlisted who were headed back to the fleet from shore duty. T’was great duty indeed.
Welcome aboard, Jake!
