Hornet, Air to Air Version
Now THAT’S an air-to-air loadout! 4 AMRAAM (We called ‘em “Slamrams”, the AIM 120) and I’m sure there were 4 more on the other side. Interesting looking at the angle of the missile when it is on deck and how, when in the air, the angle of incidence of the wing when in flight (why the wingtip sidewinder rails are pointed down when on deck, as well) gets the nose of the missile back up into the relative wind. “A Phoenix capability in a sparrow-type body” is how we called the thing. Good missile. Harry S Truman Load-Ex, COMPTUEX, Jun 09.
