That’s alot of Battle E’s awards capped with a Safety S award. Is the W for weapons testing or Wizzo’s ?

Pretty sure that would be a Weapons Department Battle E, Scott. S would be Safety. The other E’s colors would designate what they were awarded for.

The Black one is for the Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Department. It is awarded by NavAirLant/Pac depending on which coast the vessel is home ported on. Got two of them……….on ships that are now awaiting their fate. The Good Ship Ranger(1980-1981) and The Good Ship Kitty Hawk(1986-1987)
Got a story about AIMD on Nimitz getting one and then moving to Bremerton WA some twenty two years ago. I will have it on the blog.
